Tonight was our 2-mile time trial, and I ran a 12:29! My goal was 13:00. I attribute the accomplishment to David, the 14-year-old of our group. Today, he was running slower than normal, nursing a cold; Doug instructed him to pace some of us non-top-pack runners, which turned out really good for me. I didn't want to start out too fast, so I started a few seconds after everyone else. Almost immediately, I found the group with David, John, and Mike. The lead pack was way up there, but that wasn't my concern. John and David led our group, and I just hung back trying to draft off of them. We made it around the 1-mile WP loop in 6:35. And for the last mile, I had enough energy, and David and I took off. With a quarter-mile to go we took off @5:30 pace. We were full-sprint once we hit the dirt road. I do have a great kick at the end if I don't start out too fast. Anyways, David and I ran a loop inside the course before heading back to the BCC parking lot, which we did a lap together. After some gatorade, I hit the parking lot loop a couple more times to reach 6 miles for today. It was another really good practice day.
I wore not-the-shortest/er of my running shorts, but had brought out my NB flats from a couple seasons ago. Those are friggin' light-weight, and I think that they really really helped me out this evening.
Anyways, today at work, work was pretty much a sick day. This morning, I made an appointment to get my left eye checked; it felt like someone punched me there. From HFMC, I got scheduled an appointment with the Opthamologist at the Eye Center down in Palm Bay, which led back to the HFMC to get more even more prescriptions filled and an x-ray of my sinuses. Yes, it was my sinuses... cabin pressure and environmental changes from the trips to Baltimore, Disney, WOT, and Florida in general. And I'm currently not able to produce tears of my own. I got some eye drops, anti-histamines, and some more pills. We'll see how that goes.
I did stop by the office in a few intervals... and managed to get pretty much all I wanted done done there. I was forever carrying my bookbag down the hall. I probably gave off a really bad impressions to all that watched, but hey, I know the truth, dude.
Anyways, I updated my MySpace site tonight... three new Fotki badges, removed some photos, changed my profile photo to Me and Kathy Griffin, changed the profile song, and the background. I think that it's good/different enough to hold that over a few days, as I am still trying to catch up on a couple of blogs -- one for Orlando Pride, and other being last week's Top 3.
Anyways, I feel that I should leave this be here, take a shower, be sure I take all my meds, then head to bed.
