The feeling at work has been... ominous. This morning, my boss told me that his boss mentioned that it didn't appear that anyone in our hallway was doing any work yesterday afternoon when he (my B's B) stopped by. Granted, it was true that a co-worker and I were talking about something non-work-related, but it was after I had reported to my co-worker my findings from investigating a PTR. I informed my B of this and said that I chalk it up to bad timing, which is the truth.
I've been having a couple of consistently productive weeks in terms of learning and thought/design processing, if not so much in actual output -- enough that I've overcome my usual depreciative view of my occupational self-worth. So that's why I'm not worried over this morning's proceedings; it just kind of sucks.
After my co-worker and I were "caught", my B'sB stayed and chatted about Gen-Y, my supposed cultural sort-box, and the implications it had of my career goals and work attitudes. The conversation had an overtone of "stereotypes" and how they applied mixed in with perception versus reality. Mentioned was the "Reply All" message I had sent concerning the upcoming office "Chinese Gift Exchange" and whether or not I was/could/should be offended.
He went on to also mention how "my generation" blogs. I know... it's true in my case. I don't know if this was an indication that he's aware of this blog and that the comment was to instill a sense of paranoia, but the fact of the matter is that I'm not blackmail-able. I'm pretty open and shameless - ask anyone who knows me. Hell, a co-worker indicated that she found my MySpace page, and though initially kind of odd since I didn't think that (and this will sound bad) someone her age would have an account, *eh* I'm not hiding, and that bringing up something like that at work is more of a reflection of the person bringing it up.
Point is... I'm caffeinated and just felt the need to address the aura hovering around the office. I'll be alright since I've been very dutifully occupied.
