Tonight I went to go see Michael Clayton at Rave Motion Pictures. I got into the theatre literally 5 seconds before the movie started. Anyways, already digressing...
I wasn't impressed.
The story was average and the acting seemed disconnected. I enjoyed Tilda Swinton's performance but not so much the other two main actors'-- Tom Wilkinson was significant but somehow... off. George Clooney was absolutely nothing special and really got me thinking about Johnny Depp's memorable performance in Sweeney Todd.
I also think that the Michael Clayton's music/score wasn't enough of a standout to deserve its nod, and the screenplay... to each their own? Right from the start, it was a lot of talky-talky, and I was Bored. So many words and intentionally confusing, I'm not a fan of profitless mind-work. Maybe I really should've gone to see Meet the Spartans instead.
Yeah, I was very unimpressed by this film. I would've much preferred for Gone Baby Gone to pick up the Best Pic nomination, but that movie never really had any awards steam except for Amy Ryan for supporting actress.
Anyways, that's about it for that. After work, I had stopped by Blockbuster to see what Oscar-nominated movies they had. They had Once, La Vie En Rose, Away From Her, and Sicko to name a few. But the store was packed, and bratty children were running about (and into me), and I kept thinking that even though it'd be cheaper than watching it in a theatre, I was going to see these movies at the library,... And I left without picking anything up.
So it's been non-stop, high-energy/anxiety since leaving work, and I'm working on a Pomegranate Raspberry Michelob Ultra (I know... it tastes girly), and going to try to calm down in a nice, long shower -- my hind quarters are tensed again (TMI?).
Yeah, so it's a NO from me for Michael Clayton, though impressed by Tilda.
:)
