I knew that I wanted to do a plotted exploration run (new area), but I didn't anticipate a few things: 1) that I'd do it at the HOTTEST point of the day, 2) that the route would have absolutely NO SHADE, and 3) that for a lot of it, I'd be running WEST! I wore my Team Ugly Shorts singlet, and ran with shades, sunscreen, music, and water (2 bottles, dropped one off at the Baytree entrance).
Anyways, it was a red flag [fun run] run, and I was open to walk breaks (to preventing my body from over-heating). The running that I did do was mostly ugly running, but to counter that, there were a lot of "good afternoon"s to the other crazies outside walking and to the people in [shaded] gold carts.
I probably won't run this course again anytime soon, but it did give me an interesting pattern to post.
Afterwards, I took my sweaty ceddy pics in the Outback parking lot where I was stationed, then headed home, stopping by Crispers for lunch/dinner. I got the same thing I did last time I was there: the Oriental Chicken Salad and Cappuccino Torte. Delicious!
Once home, I didn't put off my shower. I got cleaned up and had my meal in front of the TV watching my Far From Heaven -- an appropriate movie, in that it addresses image and idealism that takes unexpected paths.
As my weekend in Melbourne comes to a close, there is a calmness from staying put and knowing that I can accept events as they come -- there's no need to try to take too much control over everything.
I know... less words, more pictures... here they are:
