RUN: Return to Doug's Camp: 6x800 @3:16

(I totally lost my first draft of this posting... a victim of the XP blue screen of death. That'll teach me to blog at home when it should totally be done at work. It sucks, but I'm still smiling because of the endorphins.)

I did it! I returned to running! The dues are paid, and the commitment is made.

Tonight, I rejoined Doug Butler's camp and ran 6 half-milers plus cooldown. I averaged 3:16, which is slow for me and this is the first time in my life that I've felt a little extra tummy bouncing with me and the void of any ab-action as I run. Had I continued running throughout the summer, I'd've hit around 3:00 flat, be running ab-fabulous, but I'm very okay with my performance tonight. At least I was out there. I'm on my way to being in shape for next January's Goofy Challenge.

One of the reasons for rejoining the camp was so that I'll have more opportunity to interact with other human beings, and I do have to say that I feel like a man just out of jail. There were some nice-looking people out there tonight. No crushes, mind you, but... refreshing. With that I'm becoming the gay equivalent of Kathy Griffin, dishing out the dirt except in the good way... and like Kathy, setting myself up for a Lot of awkward encounters, when these blogs really take off.

The next practice is Thursday, and I considered then decided against taking pictures of practice at practice like my "Nofo" friend (check the link. you'll have to go a little into his archives, and... oh, that's too much to ask. nevermind). It's just that people in rural cities are suspicious of cameras being used in non-birthday/non-wedding/non-alcoholic settings, and I'm weird and suspicious enough (Gay Man! Gay Man!).

Anyways, I've been prancing around the house half-naked ever since I got home. It's probably from a combination of the running and today's DVD releases, which I will be blogging about later this evening.

Now it's FOOD TIME!!! (another benefit of running)
