Saturday morning, I woke up at 6:30am (6:friggin':30am), and drove down to Melbourne Beach to help work one of the waterstations at the Inaugural Masquerade Ball 5K, a charity run for Club Esteem. It turned out to be a great experience. It was really fun manning a waterstation with a group of enthusiastic kids. That experience made me feel helpful, personable, and responsible.
Also, it was cool because I saw some friends from running:
Here's a couple of the people I run distance with on Sunday morning -- this weekend, they'll be up in DC for the Marine Corps Marathon! The running community in Brevard is just amazing. It's like one big family. It's one of the things I most enjoy about being down here in Florida.
Anyways, after the awards ceremony and clean-up, took off for an ~3-mile run. I took it easy, as the sun was already shining hard. I ran for about 26 minutes then on the walk to the car, talked to a local guy who had just finished manicuring the bocce courts; it's interesting the people you meet when you let yourself be open-/clear-minded.
Overall, what a great experience.

Nice running jacket. Where'd you get that?
Thanks, it's light-weight and the sleeves can come off. I picked it up at the Loco Running booth at the Army Ten-Miler expo in DC. Their website (http://www.locorunning.com/index.php) shows only shoes for sale, no jackets. Maybe they'll be at the expo for the Disney Marathon this January. :)
who do you think anonymous is?
I think I have that same jacket!
