The Inaugural Harris Family Medical Center 5K Fun Run was this morning at 9:00am, a late start for a morning race. The race was free for Harris employees, and probably the reason for the late start (slackers! um... me included).
Here's a picture of the course. It started on Gateway, went to Nasa, to Harris, to Woody Burke, then to Hibiscus with a bonus in-and-out on Broadband (yay...).
It was hot, windy, and ... yeah, whatever other excuses you can throw in. Perhaps the late start wasn't that great of an idea anyway... Anyways, here's a picture of my race number pre-folding and pre-pinning.
There were quite a number of dogs there: a couple French bulldogs, a black lab, a golden retriever, and a jack russell terrier (pictured below with Zippy the Running Zone Gecko).
Still despite the quasi-unfavorable race conditions, I managed 1st in my age group (me win another bobblehead!). That would've been unpossible had Steve and John not gotten 1st and 2nd overall. Woo! Another bobblehead!
It was a nice event. I got to see a lot of familiar faces, and I also got some medical schwag (sp?)... I like the pens and pads the most.
Now it's eat and shower, then heading to Downtown Orlando to see a friend run the 3:00pm Outback 12K over at Lake Eola (holy crap it's going to be hot)... then perhaps tonight's the night for some fireworks... um... literally.
