I've been doing my quaint movie reviews for a while now. Still, I just don't know how to start these things.
The plot outline from imdb.com isn't the most-fitting:
"Jenna is a pregnant, unhappily married waitress in the deep south. She meets a newcomer to her town and falls into an unlikely relationship as a last attempt at happiness."What I'd add is that, Waitress has a Southern charm and the warmness of a freshly baked "Hug You Forever" pie.
The casting was good -- Kerri Russell does a fine job as Jenna, the very pie-capable waitress who's goal is to leave her husband. Her fellow diner workers are strong, colorful characters, and Andy Griffith does well as the gruff and wise customer Old Joe.
The only mis-cast was Jeremy Sisto as Earl, Jenna's abusive husband, who disrupts the film like someone chewing on tin foil or a neighbor's uncontrolled barking dog. Luckily, Nathan Fillion was there to soothes the wound as the cute and adorably-nervous Dr. Pomatter ("I don't have a good response for that.").
Anyways, it's a worth-while movie to check out... speaking of which, I'm going to request the complete Firefly series from the library.
