Saturday's Fall Into Winter 5K, is the first race in the Space Coast Runners Runner-Of-the-Year series. It's also special because this race is run on the beach.
I didn't run because I wasn't sure if I'd wake up in time, so I just resolved myself to a position of taking pictures.
I saw a lot of familiar faces. It's been a long time since I feel like I've been out of the local running scene this summer. I also saw a few people from work plus some neighbors, which was a pleasant surprise.
The weather was beautiful and the tides were fine. The race start was calm and by the time the first people came in, the sun was out and shining.
The atmosphere was great, and I almost forgot how much adrenaline and endorphins float around at these events. I'm going to sign up for the next ROY race, the Space Coast Classic 15K (9.3 miles) in November. I'm probably walking a lot of it, but it'll be a PR nonetheless (I had to DNF on my one other attempt at the distance).
Anyways, it was a really fun time, and a wonderful start to a most-productive morning.
Here are some pics from the race:
