After work, I attended a board meeting for a local gay organization. I did this in part because I want to keep up to date on upcoming gay events. I also did this in part to get a glimpse of a particular cute guy -- I admit it. The organization had a recent newspaper write-up that, in part, included a mention of this particular cute guy... and his partner of thirteen years...
I was a bit dishearted to read this but it was for the better. Right now, for me, there's more value in that I have found an honest-to-God, real-life, gay role model.
Plus it gave me the opportunity to adjust my 8-year-old-schoolgirl crush on the guy. Seriously. I can't Not smile at the guy. I can't imagine Anyone saying "No" to him. But wait... there's more. This particular guy is more than looks; he has an attractive personality... aire-about him. His smile just makes me light up a little bit inside, and I seriously Can't Not smile.
But honestly and sincerely, I would never do anything to get inbetween him and his partner. His partner's a hard-working guy, and the two exemplify my ideals about being a "gay power couple", with so much conviction in their relationship that they allow each other space without insecurity... it's so refreshing.
Even though I was dead tired from work, I honestly am glad I went to the meeting; yeah, I spoke with him. And for me not to avoid someone... that's a big thing. There's something about him that I really respect and anticipate... A smile for a smile.
And there was my motivation.
