Tonight I ran BCC->WP(10x220/220)->BCC with David and Paul at first then with just Paul (we couldn't keep up). My legs were kind of tight again but managed through the workout, and we stretched a lot afterwards. Paul's a cop here in town, and hereally enjoys it. It was fun listening to him tell stories and all. He ran XC in HS back in GA 15 years ago but is new to the local racing scene. Once he get on board with Creaky Bones this Saturday, I could see him getting hooked, which will be great because he'll meet more of the running community.
Anyways, the run was challenging but not strenuous. The first 5 was a bit pushing, but I eased up a bit for the back half... not to the point of super-ease, but at a comfortable fast speed that didn't require my gnarling my face unpleasantly... (oh god, I'm SO not posting my race race pics from UCF last Sunday).
I felt like I was able to provide share some of my experiences of running in Melbourne, somewhat like a mentor... a surprising and positive opportunity -- and I found out tonight that there's parent in the community that would like for me to be a role model for her gay teenage son. I don't know how much of a "good" role model I really am, but if I could help him in any way, I would like to contribute some of my time and put some of my personal experience to good use.
Anyways, I should be getting to bed in order to make my 7am physical therapy session... yes, 7am. Plus I'm very psyched about my first date in what seems like forever. I'm nervous and anxious... someone's driving to Melbourne... to see me! I'm flattered, giddy, and needing of as much rest as I can get before tomorrow night (because sanity is good).
G'night! :)
