This afternoon, the Area 59 Toastmasters held their Table Topics and International Speech Contests at the Eau Gaullie Public Library.
For the Table Topics competition, there were four contestants. And the Table Topic was "On the way to the forum...". We heard about sportsmanship between ice hockey fans, sharing a moment with other cars on the road, success, and ... well, I can't remember what the last guy talked about (and he's the one who won! [ha!]).
For International Speech, there were five contestants, and we heard about how it wasn't just Charlie Wilson's war, learned what the four characteristics of G.O.A.L.s are, heard about one man's Muse for losing weight, found out why the chicken crossed the road, and listened to why living wills are important. The personal and humorous answer to the age-old chicken question was the winner.
It was another great competition, and I know that it will only get more fun and more interesting, and I look forward to attending the Toastmasters Division B Contest in Vero Beach in late March.
Congratulations to all participants!
