My friend Chuck and I went to go see a movie Thursday night to jump-start the 4-day weekend. We decided to go check out The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.
The movie was okay. The visual effects were better/more-convincing than the first movie, but the movie was lack-luster overall... similar to The Golden Compass, as if the purpose of the movie was to lead to something more (a[nother] sequel?). The movie was basically: a set-up, a battle scene, an interlude, then another battle scene. There wasn't so much substance. Chuck commented on the numerous killings without conscious, followed by a lack of consequence. And I commented on how Prince Caspian had a lot of potential (such an accent) but was played as a meek supporting-actor. And we both though that the Saddam-Hussein look-alike was a bit distracting.
It deserves its ~65% at rottentomatoes.com. I'm not sure if I'd see if outside of the theatres. [shrug] At least we're contributing to the Disney machine.
